What have i been up to you ask?? A LOT!
I haven’t been this busy for quite some time! But it’s nice to take a little break from doing the wedding thing and getting back to shooting one of the things that really got me into photography in the first place…….motorcycle racing!
I headed out to the track a couple weeks ago to check out the first round of racing of the season. a few of my friends race, so it was great to get into the middle of the action.
here’s just a few of my favs from the day.

Just a quick little teaser from Oksana and Marks e-session last weekend. More to come soon…..

shot a quick portrait session on sunday with Crystal…here’s a little tease….. a few more to come..

Just a little tease from saturdays adventure….full blog post and more photos to come soon…

…..that’s right….summer…..
soon it will be here… i can’t wait. i miss the ocean. i’m shooting a wedding in Vancouver in August….and i absolutely can’t wait! i think it’s because i’m an aquarius or something……i just don’t think i was designed to be land-locked in the middle of the prairies…..
i thought i’d post a few shots from my trip out to Vancouver Island last summer just to try and get everyone in the summer mood

The clouds rolled in……and the sun sank from sight.
Day turned to night in almost an instant.
Then saw a flash, and heard a rumble…..and i smiled.

Hey people!
I’ve been away for a while…..been doing some computer upgrades that have taken me a bit longer than i had expected. But……my photo HDs are back up and running…..and now we’re fully backed up and safe. Something i’ve been meaning to do for quite some time…..but just never got around to it. I feel MUCH safer now that my photos are backed up and mirrored.
I was going back through some of the photos i shot last year….and came across a set that i really liked but didn’t have time to work on….

I couldn’t resist getting out today to enjoy the beautiful day. Almost patio season!!

hello friends! It’s been a while since i’ve posted….i assure you i haven’t forgotten about everyone. I’ve just been extremely busy this past week it seems. I have been working a LOT on my website trying to get ready for the launch soon. Also been working a lot on editing a lot of photos that i really liked from this past year, but just didn’t have the time to work on because of three sixty six.
So i guess since i haven’t had much time to get out shooting, i’ll give you an update on life…
I had the pleasure of attending a 2-day seminar last weekend. Day one was hosted by one of the photographers i admire the most……Jesh de Rox. Everything i had ever heard about him from anyone was completely true….he is just an incredible person. His words and outlook on life and photography were so different and so inspiring. The day FLEW by…..I definitely see things from a new perspective….thank you, Jesh.
Day 2 was hosted by a Rob&Lauren who are a couple that shoot weddings, portrait, and sometimes travel photography. the day was super entertaining and filled with a lot of great tips about the “biz.” Thanks guys for giving such an intimate look into your business and sharing your successes and your challenges. PS……i now love inDesign! It was a great day and a very cool experience. it’s a shame we’re losing you guys to the vancouver crew next year…..but good luck!
i wish i had some photos to post…..but sadly i do not… I plan to get out shooting this weekend. so, i will give you guys some reading material.
Tim Mantoani article on Photoshop Insider
A great little article that i really enjoyed reading. enjoy!
……for serious!!! is it spring yet?? -29 and snow up to my waist…..i’m about done with this crap. I have a sneaking suspicion that spring is just around the corner though!

…..it’s really a strange feeling to not be shooting and posting every day. I actually kind of miss it….. and i miss the comments from everyone…
Leaving work tonight i saw this snow drift that for some reason made me stop and take out my camera and shoot it. I thought i’d share it with you….quitting this 366 cold-turkey isn’t as easy as it sounds. I’ve enjoyed taking a few days off from the camera, but i’m still always looking at things and trying to see cool photos in them. I’m sincerely hoping this is one of the last photos i post with snow in it for a very very long time.

with three sixty six over….and me moving on to new ventures, i thought it was only appropriate for a new look to help with the transition.
one of the biggest things that i won’t miss from 366 is having to choose just one photo for the day. i shot over 25,000 frames throughout the course of the project…..and narrowing it down to 366-ish was not an easy task. now i get to show you guys whatever i want! i’m looking very forward to that.
so to start off the new chapter and the new look, i thought it would be a bit of a treat to post some of the stuff i didn’t get to show you from last year. enjoy!!
C

three hundred and sixty six days…..three hundred and sixty six photos…..and over 20,000 site hits!!!!
i want to thank all of my friends and family for putting up with me this past year….and understanding how important this project was to me.
i want to thank every single person that checked out my blog…..even if it was just once or on a regular basis. you guys kept me motivated and definitely helped me to get through this past year and push myself to make my photos as interesting as possible.
i especially want to thank those of you that told someone you know about my site and my project! looking through the statistics some days…..i just can’t believe where some people are viewing my site from. Japan, The Netherlands, all over Canada and the US…Russia…Africa!! seriously……thank you from the bottom of my heart.
so what next? i have had a lot of people asking me what comes next…….what’s my plan after 366? another 365 days? a photo a week?
honestly i don’t quite know just yet. i plan to keep shooting and posting quite often just not every day…..so i hope you guys keep coming back and checking things out.
thank you all again so very much from the bottom of my heart….love you all!

“three sixty six”
this has been an epic year of my life. i know i will never forget it. i can’t think of a better way to commemorate everything from this past year….what it meant to me and what i’ve learned from it than this…..
i had a lot of good times……and a lot of bad times. lost some friends along the way……gained a few along the way as well. new lives enter the world……and had one taken from it. SOO much can happen in a year…. i just can’t even believe it’s over already. i guess that just goes to show that you need to appreciate every day for what it’s worth.
a huge thank you to Ryan at Eye of the Lotus for doing such an amazing piece of work on my arm. i’m glad you love what you do as much as i love what i do. seriously……thank you! and thanks for being so accommodating with the photo gear and whatnot…. you guys at EOTL are awesome!
thank you to Colin for being my human tripod….and watching the pain on my face to see which letters sucked the most. it was officially the “h” that was the shittiest…lol. plan “a” was to set my camera up on a tripod and take shots with my remote…..that worked ok. plan “b” was to hold my camera and just try and shoot whatever i could by myself. well plan “b” wasn’t going to work because of the angle that i was at…..and well…..the discomfort of being stabbed 100 times a second with needles in my arm…..so Colin stepped up to the plate to hold the camera while i snapped away. lol
i have learned so much about so many things. this project has done more for me and my photography than i think most people can appreciate……i’m so excited for what is yet to come.

so exactly 1 year ago today i started this project…..ironically enough it was with a picture of a car. my buddy and i decided to check out the edmonton motorshow this evening….so of course i brought my camera thinking it would be a great opportunity for photos. in all honestly…..i don’t really like car shows that much….for photos anyway. they are crowded, terrible backgrounds, distracting lighting, people walking infront of the camera, people bumping into you, all the nice cars roped off…. blah. the one thing i do enjoy though is the detail shots. i love taking small details out of context and appreciating them for what they are.
there are few cars that appeal to me quite like the Audi R8… it is a beautiful piece of engineering and design. it’s just beautiful from every angle……and it sounds even better than it looks!

The Setting Sun
This isn’t even to close to the shot i had planned for today…..but with the terrible weather we’ve been having and all the snow, traffic was ridiculous. ….so with the sun still setting fairly early, i wasn’t able to make it where i needed to be before the sun set. so on my way there i decided that it was time for plan “b”
what you see above is “b” The thing i love the most about it……is that it was like -25 when i took this……..but it looks like it could have been shot at +30 in the middle of some middle-eastern country.
I can’t believe this is the last sunset photo i’ll ever take for 366……. *sniff* it’s hard to believe a year is over already…..

“I’ll love you forever”
My friend Stef getting a piece done that’s she’s been wanting for a LONG time. It was written in her mothers hand-writing which makes it pretty special! Spencer from Eye of the Lotus was kind enough to finally make it a reality for her.
Looks great, Stef!! Hope you love it
Thanks for letting me tag along…even if i did make you laugh a few times….haha……sorry….
Happy Last Bokeh Wednesday!!!!!

Dizzy
not sure why the Mindbender of all things popped into my head for a photo idea……but it was inside so i was ALLLL over it. haha. I ended up spending about an hour wandering around West Edmonton Mall. Again….suprised i didn’t get in trouble from the mall cops… i guess i’m getting better at this “being sneaky” crap. better late than never i suppose.

well Mother Nature decided to barf some more winter on us…. sweet….
just when we were all starting to get used to the warm weather, and were sure spring was just around the corner…i wake up to a blizzard. the forecast for the week looks pretty grim as well. would it have been too much to ask for to have some sunshine and birds chirping for my last week?? ….. after living here so long, i know i should be used to these kinds of stunts already. lol. happy blizzard monday!

Airport Stakeout
I managed to not get in trouble!!!!!! Can you guys believe that?!? Wow….. Of all the places I’ve shot this year and got in shit, I would have expected the International Airport would have been on the top of the list….

Some Strings Attached
Such a simple image…..ballons floating in the air. I just liked how lonely they looked…..as soon as I saw these I knew exactly what the image should have looked like. I hadn’t planned on adding texture to it, but I think it adds character.

The color version of this one was great……but it was missing something…….it had too much color and too much going on. Once I stripped it of the distractions it really seemed to pop off the page. I had a good photo-walk downtown! It was hard trying to choose which shot to use for the day…

Sun Beauty
I had the compelling urge to shoot a flower photo…….don’t know why…. So I stopped off at the florist to see what they had on my way home from work. I ended up finding this orchid, and HAD to have it. The colors, patterns, and shape were awesome. Hope you guys like my take on it…

Bokeh Explosion!!
Holy crap I have a huge mess to clean up after this shot……
Happy Bokeh Wednesday (2nd last one!!)

“M” is for……red door??
I’ve driven past this red door SO many times…..and It’s always ingrigued me for some reason. I think it’s the color and the bold shapes…
