Another amazing day. I don’t even know where to begin. Long beach was awesome. After a quick stay there I had to say my good-byes and start on my way back to Comox for a BBQ. But before i left the west coast, I hiked into a “secret” beach that my sister showed me a few years ago when i was out there last.  It was even better than i remembered.  It was SUPER hard to climb down off of my perch on the rocks to make my way back.  I just didn’t want to go back…..

I think i need to move somewhere and learn how to surf…..  I’m thinking Hawaii…..Indonesia….  Anyone want to come with?

TOFINO WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said.

Seriously…..it was perfect. Even the drive there was fabulous.

Nice car + twisty mountain roads + loud music + sun and blue skies = Stupid grin on my face all day

I went camping with a friend who now lives in Whistler. Coincidently she, her boyfriend, and a friend were all going to be out on the west coast of the island surfing…..so i decided to go hang out with them for a couple of days.

The beaches were just as beautiful as i remembered them. Walking on the narrow path through the trees and seeing my first glimpse of sand and waves crashing was like something out of a movie. It was just…..indescribable. I wandered the beach most of the afternoon taking photos and just enjoying everything my senses were taking in. The sights….the sounds…..the smells. I just didn’t want to leave….

I have now spent half of my Saturday morning trying to decide what photo to post for today. So….i’m bending my rules again…..and posting a couple of supplementary shots from Wed because they were just too good not to share with you guys.

I got up early yesterday to catch low tide and to go exploring the beaches around here. I had a great day just wondering around snapping away shots.  I had lunch at this great little place between Comox and Courtenay on the side of the road called Porch’s Take-Out. By the end of the day I was starting to feel like a Japanese tourist though. Wow. My sister and I went out last night to catch the sunset and to see if i could get some interesting pictures from some locations i stumbled across earlier this week. Anyhow…..i could have posted a picture of a seagull…..or a starfish or something but i thought this was much more entertaining.

PS. I’m off to Tofino today to go camping with my friend Felicity. I won’t be back until Friday evening. CIAO!

Last night was the height of the Perseids Meteor shower that’s been going on for the past few weeks and will continue on for another couple of weeks. At 2:30am i packed up my gear and headed out to Kye Bay to set up and aim the camera at the stars. Camera….check. Tripod….check. Cable release…..check. Blanket…..check. Patience…..check.

The stars are so gorgeous out here……i never get to see the stars like this around Edmonton because there is so much light pollution drowning them out.

I found myself a nice spot on the beach to set up. Some kind person that lived on the beach was even nice enough to leave a chair out for me…..how convenient! So after spending an hour on the beach shooting 30 second exposures and getting NOTHING i was getting ready to pack up and go home. So i gave myself 5 more shots to get something and then i was going home. On my 2nd last exposure……..this is what I got.

PS…digital cameras suck for this kind of thing…..

Today I went exploring…..after sleeping in, of course. Comox is just a little tiny place on the East coast of Vancouver Island……but it’s so beautiful here. I had a great afternoon of just driving around with the windows down listening to a chillout CD. I’m looking forward to checking out some cool places my sister recommended to me this evening over our Fish ‘n Chips dinner that we cooked. Well she made the fish and chips….i helped with the salad and made 2 trips to the grocery store for stuff. haha.

Depart Edmonton: 7:30am

Arrive in Vancouver: 7:15pm (8:15 MST)

LONG ASS DRIVE! So much fun though. I forgot how beautiful BC is. WOW. The roads are so nice and twisty…..the forests are so lush and green. I love it here. I’m looking forward to the next 2 weeks of relaxing and hanging out with some awesome people out here on Vancouver Island.

The photo was taken as i was waiting to catch the ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point (Nanaimo). I got there right at the perfect time too. The sun was just starting to set as i boarded the ferry. It was a nice little 2 hour break across the Strait to the island…..considering i hadn’t really stopped on the way from Edmonton for anything more than maybe 45 mins tops total. All in all though…..the drive was great. Some great tunes, some fantastic roads, and some amazing scenery made the 12 hour drive totally bearable.

That’s right…….another wedding. Andrea and I teamed up again to kick some ass for Pink Sugar Photography. Today was Paul and Lindsey’s special day. Man there 2 were a ton of fun……and we had 4-5 hours today to get a lot of fun shots in. We shot everywhere from the middle of a field……to a parkade still under construction. It was a tad on the warm side…..but i’ll take this weather over raining any time.

My friend Kristina had a surprise birthday BBQ for her boyfriend Matt this evening. Despite all the stuff i have to do to get ready to shoot another wedding tomorrow and leave the city on vacation sunday……i needed a break tonight to relax. I eneded up staying until 7pm at work tonight to finish up a project that got dumped on my lap this week. it HAAAAAAD to be done today before i left…..so i stayed until the bitter end. blah

I’m not even going to try and hide the fact that this photo is lazy as hell. Last night i had probably one of the worst days i have had in YEARS. It was a hectic and crazy shit-show of a day. It just didn’t seem to end.

OK………SOOO sorry about being so late with these. So i have been working with a hairstylist for the last couple of weeks who was entering a stylist competition called Contessa. He has to choose 3 models and give them make-overs. I was required to shoot before and after shots for each model. We did the final shoot for the girls on Wednesday night. The whole thing took about 3-1/2 hours from setup time….touch-ups….shooting…..etc. It was super fun and i think everyone had a good time. This is just one of the projects i’ve had on the go that seems to be eating up my time and decaying my social-life.

I’m not dead! Seriously……i’m not……..i’ve just been WAY too busy with other projects right now to get around to editing my 366 shots. Hopefully tonight, but i have also made promises to other clients…….so I make no promises.

sorry kids…..

I haven’t told too many people yet….but I will be going on vacation on Sunday for 2 weeks. I’m at the point where I just need a break. I haven’t had a proper vacation in over 4 years and it’s starting to show. So, I’ll be heading off to BC to see 2 of my lovely friends in Victoria, then to Comox to visit my lovely sister in her new place out there, and then possibly to Washington or home. (It’s a long story).

I can’t wait to shoot some photos on the coast……Vancouver Island is SOOO beautiful.  I’m excited!

So…….back to the picture…..

I’m in the process of loading up my iPod for the 15+ hour journey to the coast. I’m sick of all of my music on there so if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

I haven’t been out to the track for a while……and since it was a long weekend, there was an all day Track Attack that dropped by on. It was a beautiful day and a great turnout today. Lots of my friends were out. Some of them practicing for the upcoming race weekend……some just out there for fun.

There were so many good riders out there today……i had a tough time deciding which photo to use today. I had it narrowed down to 5 and then finally picked this one.

I don’t feel like getting all emo about the story behind this one…..so I’ll spare you…

A friend of mine was puppy-sitting one of the cutest dogs EVER. Her name was Cola. She was sooo adorable, but I think we tuckered her out tonight……haha
